Re: Sometimes I'm with it, and sometimes I'm not

It's not just day to day. Sometimes it's hour to hour! Today
I was loving my first period class - they are generally a
positive hard-working group. Then I got all teary eyed during
the homecoming assembly because the performers all did such a
great job and had so much fun in the process. Second period,
all is well. Then third period rolls around, the students
decide they don't want to work, and I leave with a migraine,
feeling like that class is a lost cause. I spend my 4th period
prep staring at the computer screen, hating my job: is it
time to go home yet? Then 5th period, which is usually a huge
struggle, goes off without a hitch. The students work so hard
I give them 10 minutes of chill time before the bell rings.
I went home this afternoon feeling drained and a little
depressed, even though the day was superb, with the exception
of 3rd period. Sigh. It will always be a roller coaster -
it's the nature of working with kids! : )
