Post: The Project Approach with Fire Station

I'm in my takeover for a preschool class of 3 year olds
and am required to use the project approach. I noticed that
the children were very interested in emergency vehicles and
decided on doing a project on the Fire Truck.

We are currently in the first phase (investigation) and
have read3 stories about fire trucks and the station. We've
made webs about what we know about them. I think I moved
too fast and did a web about what they'd like to learn, the
day after we did the web about what we know.

So here's my problem. I can't figure out any activities to
help the 3 year olds to eventually end up building a fire
truck of our own. I want to have them look at the fire
truck at the station and be able to get details. Got any
activity ideas for a project on fire trucks?
