Hello!
I was so glad to hear from you and that your daughter is doing so
well! That makes my heart sing... Life has a way of working out
doesnt it?
Ironically, my coop-teacher (from you know where) quit teaching
after me. Maybe she came to her senses and realized what a horrible
teacher (and person) she was.
I spent the last year substitute teaching and ran across a student
teacher in the faculty room who was crying and being "chewed out" by
her coop teacher. It took everything I had not to go over to the
coop teacher and slap him!!
This summer I fell down a flight of stairs and broke bones in my
back. I was bed-ridden for 6 weeks! No fun. BUT, a school I
applied to weeks before was willing to interview me by telephone.
They were so impressed that I ended up getting a long-term sub
position (6 months). I am now doing that and LOVING it! I am
complimented all the time by how good a teacher I am, and the kids
love me. I can't imagine any other job! And the money is very good.
I'm so glad that I stuck with it.
Ironically, the first day of school, all the teachers met with the
vice-president of the school district. She gave a speech about
memorable teachers she had in the past. She also gave a talk about a
teacher that had told her during student teaching, "You'll never make
it as a teacher. You need to pick another profession.,..blah, blah,
blah." Here she became a teacher for 20 years and then the VP! She
said that she hopes we become teachers that would never tell a
student anything like that wicked teacher told her. That lives can
be ruined by comments and experiences from a bad teacher.
Tell your daughter I am so proud of her for not giving up! She
definitely has the caliber to be a great teacher for having faced
"all odds!" She'll be better for it.
Best wishes to you both....AND, "Prove them WRONG!" Jenny
