Post: Teacher Trips to Visit Butterflies and Students in Mexico
Posted by Kim on 9/21/08
The organization, Monarchs Across Georgia (MAG), offers
trips to Mexico for teachers to learn more about the
natural history and culture of the region. Teachers will
visit the Monarch butterfly's unique winter habitat and
visit at least one school near the Monarch protected
areas. Three separate trips are offered in February 2009.

Even if you can't go on one of the trips, you can still
connect with students in Mexico by participating in the
Symbolic Monarch Migration. Every November millions of
monarch butterflies migrate to their overwintering sites
in the mountains of Mexico. At the same time symbolic
paper monarchs made by school children from the United
States and Canada find their way to students living in the
monarch sanctuary area. These symbolic butterflies build
bridges of communication between students in Mexico, the
United States, and Canada. This fall's Symbolic Migration
postmark deadline is October 14, 2008.
