Post: Surely you know a future AFSer

    Posted by bwills on 1/01/09

Dear Teachers, Counselors, Parents and AFS Friends,

We'd like to take just a second of your time this holiday
season for some wonderful news-AFS has two new full
scholarship programs available for U.S. high school
students who want to study abroad! We need your help to
spread the word quickly so we can identify as many great
    students as possible.
Applications are due February 2, so please encourage the
teenagers in your life to take advantage of the holiday
vacation to complete their applications online. It's quick
and easy. Please forward this email on to any individuals
or school contacts you may have to let them know about
    these great opportunities.

A Scholarship Program for Language Lovers: NSLI for Youth

This scholarship opportunity is perfect for students who
would love to learn a new language, are open to exciting
and challenging experiences, and want to give themselves a
real competitive edge in college and career. This full
scholarship program for year, semester and summer
opportunities is available in seven countries China, Egypt,
India, Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkey.

Now U.S. Students can Study on YES Abroad Scholarships

    www.yesprograms.org
For several years, AFS-USA has been hosting students from
other countries through the Youth Exchange and Study
Program (YES). Now U.S. students can take advantage of full
year scholarships to study in Egypt, Ghana, India,
    Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Turkey!

Both NSLI and YES are funded by the U.S. Department of
State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

There are many other scholarship opportunities for
    interested students on www.afsusa.org/scholarships, and
students should consider applying to multiple scholarships
to maximize their chance of going abroad. All programs,
including NSLI-Y and YES Abroad can be accessed by our
website AFS-USA. In fact, everything one needs to get
started can be found on our website or you can call AFS-USA
    at 1-800-AFS-INFO.

Thank you for all that you do every day to help further the
AFS mission of building a more just and peaceful world.
