    I didn't mean this as a criticism. The only time that I expect
    total silence is during test taking or independent reading.
    Sometimes the notes left for me indicate that there should be
    absolutely no talking. Then I try to follow instructions. Often
    I find that is helpful for the students to help each other. Both
    the helper and the helpee can benefit. If the discussion drifts
    to TV shows or the dance on Friday, then the conversation needs to
    be redirected.
