Re: Sometimes I use the phrase to the teacher to mean.....

...that the kids talked a lot, but that they DID do the work
and were cooperative with each other and with me. In other
words, they might get quiet briefly but wouldn't stay quiet
for any length of time. However, the talking did not
interfere with making progress in class, and I was not
given "attitude" when I asked for quiet.
Typical of many second grade classes (they are just SO social
at that age!) and some others.

This is in CONTRAST to the classes (usually 5th grade or
older) who not only will NOT SHUT UP for long enough to do the
lunch count, much less give directions for the assignment, but
are rude to me and each other.

A quiet class is a pleasure, but I can work with a chatty
class if they are cooperative. I think some teachers have a
higher "chat tolerance" than others, too.
