Wow. I wouldn't have the courage to work in that field. Obviously one needs to be a very special person to do that sort of work and be specially trained as well. Before my mom met my dad she was training to become a nurse. There was one elderly patient that she grew very attached to who had severe mental difficulties. My mom helped this lady out tremendously and when the lady passed away my mother was so distraught that she gave up nursing. I have an aunt (my mothers sister) who suffers from severe mental disabilities and has spent many years in and out of mental institutions. My family has dealt first hand with the trauma of seeing a loved on go through the heartache of mental problems. It's not fun. I love this lady dearly, she is one of my favourite people in the world and yet when she is off her medication (bi-polar) the world just goes insane for her and for the rest of us who populate her world. She is co- morbid, meaning she has another diagnosis, that of schizoid affective disorder. I'm posting a link if you're interested. country hicks.
