Goodmorning, Ze and Elyssa and All,

I'm sorry to hear that your friend is still unstable, Elyssa,
but I think you've done all that you can do for her. Sorry
to hear that your usual plans for Thanksgiving have been
disrupted, too. We always celebrate our own Thanksgiving
here - just the four of us. I'm hoping that my daughter will
be better by then so she'll join use for the meal.

I was pleasantly surprised last night. After having a very
hard time trying to get her up, I was pleased when she came
downstairs later on (at night). Then, a little bit later,
she went back upstairs, and came downstairs in a sort-of
costume, ready to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters.
Several times, I suggested that we go to trick-or-treat at
her best friend's house (plans with her best friend fell
through/the mom wanted her daughter there to hand out candy
to trick-or-treaters and she didn't invite my daughter to
help). After awhile, my daughter agreed to go, so I went
upstairs to put on my clown wig, my clown jacket (red w/white
dots and a flower), and I dug out my duck umbrella and my
singing baked chicken (It stands up and sings "Hot! Hot!
Hot!"). Well, my daughter quickly took the duck umbrella for
herself and wouldn't go anywhere with me in that wig. I did,
however, keep the jacket and the chicken. We walked over to
the friend's house and my daughter acted semi-lively, trying
her best to pull herself out of the depression (good girl!).
When we got to her friend's house, we discovered that the
reason the mom didn't want the friend and my daughter to go
out was because the daughter wasn't feeling well. Still,
they seemed to enjoy our visit and I hope it helped my
daughter. Then we walked to another friend's house, but she
wasn't home. When we got back home, my daughter went back up
to her bedroom. Today, she is still in bed (nearly noon),
but I figure I'll not give her as hard of a time today
(yesterday, I tickled her, tried ot swing her legs around and
off the bed, talked at her, etc.). One step at a time.

I have loads to do today, too. I have to call a few people
for interviews for my paper, re-read folklore books, and
transcribe interviews. Loads to do and too little time. No
work tomorrow or Tuesday - teacher workdays - but I'll be
going to class on Tuesday night.
    -Jean
