Post: Good morning!

Good morning!
It will be rather drizzly in the morning. It will clear
later in the day.
I still don't have any assignments for today. I noted that
many who are subbing this year are laid off teachers. If one
has a multiple subject credential, one can forget about full
time jobs for the foreseeable future.
One thing that I was thinking....now that they have a huge
surplus of teachers, can you imagine if districts get so
choosy that they decide to hold through background
investigations of teacher candidates? Yes, the same ones
that are conducted for police and fire employees?
Even students ask this...if teachers spend so much time with
minors and are entrusted with their learning and care,
shouldn't teachers be heavily scrutinized the way police and
fire personnel are? You know...
credit history
through criminal history
all residences held since high school, and all
roommates/relatives/etc the candidate has lived with
military history
educational history, including all suspensions, expulsions
and interviews with former teachers
driving record, including all tickets given including those
that have been dismissed
through employment history and all written and verbal reprimands
any past gang associations-this includes even being in
places where gang members frequent
whether any relatives have been arrested
marital history
any judgments or lawsuits that the candidate has initiated
or has been a recipient of
polygraph exam, psychiatric exam...
Here is a link to the Personal History questionnaire that
candidates for the LAPD have to fill out. Can you imagine if
teachers were requested to do the same....now that there is
a superglut of highly qualified teachers? After all,
teachers are trusted with society's children.

This is just a "what if" scenario.
