Re: Reality Bites

I have posted here in the past on rare occasion. I recently
retired after 38 years and 30 in my last district. During the
course of my entire career, it has been very hard securing a
teaching position. My first one was relatively easy too secure
but I was just 22 and youth always has a huge advantage.
The second one I subbed briefly into my position and the
principal was interested in hiring competent subs. The third
round was tough. I had to sub two years before I secured a job.
Some subbed people subbed 5 years. That was when I realized the
system was shot through and through with politics. I almost had
one job but the gal that got it was having an affair with one of
the principals who was in cohoots with the district office.
Both of them were married and later divorced and married each
other. Well, I love teaching but not to that degree to secure a
job.
More people will be retiring as the economy improves. If you
can hang in awhile longer hopefully your dreams will come true.
