Long Term Sub Contracts

I have two job offers:

One is for a position teaching science at a private school. The other is a long term sub contract through the end of the year.

My question is this: Can a long term sub be terminated before the end of the year for incompetence? I know of a teacher who was let go last year, for discipline problems in his room. I know that for a regular teacher position, you can be non-renewed, but can one be terminated at will from a LTS position?

The private school pays less than the LTS position, but the contract is more in favor of the teacher.

Robin True, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, as they say. In most cases a long term sub job is just that...a job that eventually comes to an end. I also wonder where you got the idea that a teaching job carries job security, especially when you do not have tenure. You are mistaken! Principals get rid of teachers all the time for various reasons. My point was not to automatically assume that the teaching job is the no-brainer. "Look before you leap." Doesn't cost you anything! Just sayin.

Lee It depends on the contract that you sign. Most say 60 days notice unless it is something really bad on your part. You can be suspended with pay for the 60 days.
