A 5th-grader wants to arm wrestle me in class. I agreed to do it tomorrow, but I want your opinion first. It's just friendly competition, and he is likely to lose. But what if he complains about me? I know we're not supposed to 'get physical' but this is a game.

BJ I would not have you back either. You need to develop the skill of with-it-ness, being aware of what's going on in your classroom at all times. I can quickly determine if students are acting strangely, or hiding something like a phone. They certainly can't have been doing their work - and that's a red flag.

Kathy The snowball fight would get you banned from that school, if not from the entire district where I sub. However, more worrisome is that someone said you were sleeping during the planning period and you don't remember whether you did or did not fall asleep. Kathy
