Re: Religious Education

I can't speak to UAE specifically, but in two other Gulf
Countries I worked in the Religious texts are published by
the Education Ministry. These classes (Deen) are taught in
English or in Arabic. They were only required for Muslims
and Druze. No other religions were taught. It was not
allowed in Kuwait or Saudi. The Muslim parents and teachers
were not thrilled with the way the textbooks were written
and exactly was taught, because like all textbooks water
things down or summarize in strange ways. I am sure that UAE
is similar. In Q8 Religion has only been taught in schools
since after Gulf War 1, before that it was thought to be the
parents job. Q8 is also a mix of Sunna and Shia so it was
better that way.
Why don't you email one of the schools in UAE?
