If they are just working on the server end, then your local
box is safe. I would back-up everything currently on the
server, and for caution...if you are concerned...you could
back up files on your personal workstation. You can export
your favorites, bookmarks, email addresses, etc. When it
comes to the machine specifics start-up menu, personal
preferences like screen size, etc., then I am not sure if
there is anything you can do.
If they decide at the server level that they want to wipe
every node clean, then you are at the mercy of the Sys Admin,
but I have rarely seen that done. In fact, the only time I
have seen such is because of OS upgrades to the workstation,
or other security reasons. I really do not think you will
have anything to worry about. If you are concerned, then just
shoot an email to the Sys Admin and ask him your question.
