I may have your student's brother! I have one who does
exactly what you describe. I have had to move him away from
the other students because he is constantly disturbing them
with talking, humming, singing, tapping, etc. I cannot get
through 5 minutes of a lesson without him interrupting (not
to contribute to what the lesson is about) telling about what
he did last night, what he ate for dinner, etc. I think in my
student's case it is a need for attention. His home life is
not good. He is passed from babysitter to babysitter and has
moved twice since this school year began. He craves all
attention, positive and negative. I have yet to find a
behavior intervention that is successful with this one. I am
still trying. I would welcome any ideas.
