    Re: Tutoring Franchise
    Posted by: Chris on 8/01/09

I've worked for Sylvan for about a year. My guess is that
either franchise will work. If you want a lower cost
franchise, there are a few other options. Mathnasium and Club
Z! are options. I've seen parents at Sylvan who are
dissappointed that it's too expensive, and they don't like
the fact that they have to sign a contract for a year and
make a committment. Also, there is one tutor for three kids
at a time. They charge $40/hr (and so does Kumon)...tons of
people in our town don't go to Sylvan because it's too
    expensive.

I've been looking into a tutoring franchise myself, and Club
Z! has appealed to me because it's cheaper, one-on-one
tutoring in the students' homes. To the customer, it's
convenient, less expensive and flexible. It gives them a real
competitive advantage over Sylvan...the first rule of
business is to find out what your customer wants and give it
    to them.

You could even start your own business and hire tutors and
match them with different students. I've thought about this
for myself too. You avoid the franchise fee and the
corporation taking your profits and regulating you.
