It is actually very easy to download via FTP. Go to my site
www.co-bw.com and click on the Dreamweaver Tutorials and the
first one there is on defining a site.

It sounds like you did not pull the page down properly. You
need to make sure that all of your images are mapped to the
correct folder, and the same goes with your background. You
can work on the Page Properties by going to Modify-->Page
Properties-->Appearence.
