I think its time to go back to Classroom Management 101. Better
fix this problem soon or else you won't be a teacher for long.
If your principal gets wind of this, you could be a lot of
trouble.
It starts with how you approach the classroom. DO NOT tolerate
this nonsense. Remove the low level crime before it grows. You
need to nip it in the bud early. Don't let little things slide.
Make sure they know your expectations and rules from day 1.
You posted on July 4th ... is this summer school? Did you not
go over rules? Have parents been contacted? Have letters been
sent home?
Have you developed a behavior contract with them outlining your
expectations, and what they need to do to pass the class? If
it's summer school, hold the fact that they'll be repeating the
course in September if this nonsense doesn't stop.
I don't know what else to tell you. Fix your classroom
management or look into another career.
