FAMILY MATH refers to typically annual events held at public
and private schools across the country in which parents and
their children are brought together to enjoy engaging
activities that familiarize parents with the Mathematics
concepts and objectives being taught at their school. Usually
a light meal is served, and then games and activities (void of
pencil and paper) begin. Hopefully parents will then be more
willing to help their children at home as they internalize new
concepts and practice skills. I would highly recommend a book
entitled Nachos and Numbers... a step-by-Step Guide to Hosting
a Sucessful Family Math Event. Any search engine should bring
up the book's website or a route in which to purchase a copy.
It's afforable and very useful to both parents and teachers
