There may be local historic reenactors in your area.

If you Yahoo/Google/Bing(!) 'historic reenactors' in your
state/area, you will find lots of information for someone to
    visit your school.

In some areas there are Colonial, Civil War, African American
reenactors that can set up a 'camp' with hands-on stations.
This past year Abraham Lincoln was 'hot', so many schools
contracted a Lincoln to visit the classroom through the
    Association of Lincoln Presenters www.lincolnpresenters.net
and they list their members geographically.

There are also musicians and balladeers that will visit your
    school. (Again search the WEB.)

In LA, there is a dance society that visits schools and
    teaches folk and historic dances.

Several museums and historic sites throughout the United
States have 'Traveling Trunk' programs and can also send
someone to your classroom. Simply choose the type of program
you want and then choose the museum of historic site to
correspond; it doesn't have to be a museum or site in your
area! The programs should be in the education area of the web
site; you can also call the education department. This would
include places like Williamsburg, VA etc.

I sometimes contact the local or nearest Convention and
Visitors' Bureau and speak with someone involved with
educational tours and events. They usually have a list of
people that are used by schools, meetings, and conventions
    for purposes of entertainment.

I hope that this has helped you!

P.S. If I knew your geographic area, I might be able to
    suggest some people and places.
