    Re: Tipping EF Tour Guides
    Posted by: Teach2Teach2 on 6/24/09

EF now recommends $6 (U.S.) or the equivalent per day. PLEASE realize
the amount of time & effort most Tour Directors put into a tour. I
don't see why people think this is so outrageous when they tip five
or six dollars for a nice meal - with one hour tops of service!!

Local guides are different that the actual tour director (the person
who is with you from baggage claim upon arrival all the way until you
check your bags in at the airport to come home). Local guides tips
are about $1 per person for 1/2 day.

Group leaders who don't tip fairly (or at all) are just plain tacky.
Earlier this month I was on a tour with a group leader who tried to
jilt the tour director AND bus driver with NO tip whatsoever. Not
surprisingly, she was also the teacher who "turned the other way"
when her high school students were buying alcohol & getting drunk at
the hotel bar. The other group leaders (teachers) were offended on
    both counts.
