    Re: Middle School Trips Abroad
    Posted by cgenster on 9/16/08

Hi, I took 14 8th graders to Costa Rica this summer. I
wondered also if parents would allow their 8th graders to go
out of the country, but they did.

Our trip was a little different in that we went as a service
learning project. We had adopted two schools in rural
communities, and collected school supplies all year and then
delivered them in June and worked with the students in the
    school.

I contacted all the 'big' tour companies and none of them would
work with me because we did not want to do any of their set
    itineraries.

ACR Tours based in Costa Rica listen to what we wanted and
designed a tour especially for us. We did not use a tour
director but that is an option if your group wants one. They
will work with you and give you options based on your wants and
    needs.

We did fundraisers for the schools and for the cost of the
trip. We were able to lower the cost by $350.00 per student
with fundraising. It was a lot of work, and a lot of after
hour functions. It was worth it.

Sorry this is so long, but any Spanish teacher who wants to
explore Costa Rica as a destination, should check out ACR Tours.
