Discount cards are a great choice for fundraising, for lots of reasons. School groups (cheerleaders, drill team, the school band), church groups, sports teams, and other non-profit organizations must rely on the methods they use to raise money, and donations from individuals and businesses. There are times when donations are just not enough to rely on, so you have to come up with other ways to raise funds. If you aren't familiar with discount cards, here is some information that will enlighten you about this popular method of raising money.

There are times when donations are just not enough to rely on, so you have to come up with other ways to raise funds. If you aren't familiar with discount cards, here is some information that will enlighten you about this popular method of raising money.

They're more profitable than other typical fundraising products.

Catalog product sales, tins of popcorn, candles, jerky - these are all commonly used methods of raising money, and they are profitable. But how profitable, and how easy to sell? There is hardly a product in the world your group can sell that rakes in profits of as much as 100% or more, but discount cards do when you sell a certain amount. Naturally, larger groups can sell more cards, allowing them to reach higher profit margins.

They're less work than what you usually find with other products or activities.

Over the years, churches have held countless bake sales and multi-family yard sales in an effort to raise money for the youth group or other church needs. This is hard work that can require days or even weeks of planning; baking the goods, wrapping them in plastic wrap, pricing, then loading them up for transport to a busy shopping center where the group will set up. Pricing yard sale goods, putting it all out where potential customers can browse the merchandise, then sorting everything that doesn't sell out again and taking it back home.

With discount cards, there is no physical labor required! Secure merchant participation (which the company that provides the cards will do for you if you wish), order the cards, and start selling when they come in. No storage issues, no worries about leaving them in the trunk of your vehicle during soaring temperatures like you would have with candy bars or cookie dough.

They're super easy to sell, no special salesmanship required

Potential buyers realize the real value of discount cards, and know they will save a substantial amount of money for a period of one year after purchasing the card. This is savings on what many people consider "essentials," such as food, car maintenance, hair care and more. It's hard today to find real value in anything you buy, but for $10 the customer enjoys the opportunity to save that amount ten times over (or even more) - and considering the economic climate today, saving is important.

Another "plus" is that the cards are an easy sell even for those in your group who aren't natural-born salesman. With candles, candy, catalog sales and other items, sometimes those doing the selling have to really promote, which can make them uncomfortable. Not so with discount cards, which practically sell themselves!

They're great for stimulating your own local economy

Merchants love them because the cards are a sort of "free" advertising and give their businesses more exposure. Because the offers on the cards are for local merchants in your own area rather than national merchants, the money stays within your own community. These days, it's important to help your own neighborhood thrive economically - and discount cards help accomplish this. Basically, this is a way to come "full circle"; your group easily raises the money it needs, the customer is happy to save money, and the merchant benefits from increased business.

Now you can plainly see why that when it comes to fundraising, nothing else compares to discount cards.
