Re: Wolly Bear Caterpiller what do they eat?![]()
Posted by Becky on 8/04/07
I have been told the wooly bear caterpillars cross the roads
because the air temperature is cool and they are cold blooded
and require the heat from the pavement. During the fall is
when you see most wooly bears crossing the roads...they are
simply trying to get warmth from the asphalt, which soaks up
the sun and becomes hot. The woolybears also eat clover. I
am a second grade teacher and I bring in caterpillars for the
students all of the time. The wooly bears LOVE clover. Hope
the helps.
