    Re: Best Fish to Have-GUPPIES!
Posted by Rita O'Brien on 8/10/08

Guppies are so amazingly easy! I have had guppies for two
years now. You'll want to get them from a good place. I got
mine from Carolina not from a pet store. They come quick and
they are guaranteed. Here are some tips:Get your aquarium up
and running. Do this while the kids are there. Resist the
urge to do it before they come. The anticipation is so
incredible! Have it running with the filter, heater, etc. for
about 2 weeks. If you order them from Carolina, they will
come during the school day and you can explain the
acclimation process. Guppies are surprizingly interesting, as
well. Males are prettier, slimmer and sleeker. You'll need at
least 2 females for every male. (Get the least because they
breed fast! Guppies give live births and you can actually see
the babies inside the females transluscent skin. I really
enjoy them and the kids spend so much time observing them,
drawing them and writing about them.I have them at my home
now and will bring them back after school starts. They are so
calming to watch and I know they lower my blood pressure! :)

I've had fish at home before but it was such a pain! Thanks
to advances in technology, no more time wasted cleaning,
    changing water, etc.

Check out the Tetra site for more info. You can email me if
you want more info. Good Luck!
