I've not had one as a classroom pet, but I have as a pet at
home. Some things to consider, if you haven't already, are
allergies and sleeping conditions. What about potty
breaks? Walks? Also, where would the dog go on breaks and
weekends? Some students may be afraid of dogs, so that
would also need to be a consideration. As I'm sure you
know, different breeds are better suited than others. I
have a Miniature Pinscher that I do not think would work
well. She has too much energy and would not do well in a
confined area for long periods of time. However, there are
other breeds that would work quite nicely.
I think dogs are a great way to make people happy.
Hopefully this will work out for you and your classroom! :)
