TEACHERS.NET HOSTS AUTHOR/LITERACY EXPERT
PATRICIA CUNNINGHAM FOR ONLINE CHAT

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Teachers.Net will host author and literacy instruction expert Patricia Cunningham of Wake Forest University, North Carolina, for a live chat as part of the site's busy schedule of meetings for educators. The July 14 event will take place from 8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT in the Teachers.Net Conference Room. http://teachers.net/conference

Patricia Cunningham is well known to educators because of her work with early literacy instruction, and has written numerous books and articles, including many for Reading Today, a journal of the International Reading Association. Her Four Blocks Model was developed in collaboration with classroom teachers in an effort to accommodate the differing "learning personalities" of children. The Four Blocks represent four different approaches to teaching children how to read: Writing, Self Selected Reading, Words, and Guided Reading. The model is described as a "multimethod, multilevel framework" that includes mixed ability grouping and daily instruction in each of the Four Blocks.

Like all Teachers.Net events, the live webchat with Patricia Cunningham is available to interested participants at no cost and with no pre-registration. For those unable to take part in the live sessions, transcripts are available following the events in the Teachers.Net Archive Section: http://www.teachers.net/archive.
