CHILDWOOD AND TEACHERS.NET TEAM UP FOR STORYTELLERS CONTEST

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Teachers.Net, the online resource for teachers and school administrators is teaming up with ChildWood for a month-long contest that will result in 5 educators winning sets of ChildWood magnets. The winners will be selected from among those who enter via the catalog request page http://teachers.net/contest. No purchase is necessary.

During each week in October, a winner will be selected at random from among those who enter via the Teachers.Net site. The weekly winners will receive one of four individual magnet sets. At the end of the month, one grand-prize winner will be selected to receive a complete "Storytelling Collection" and Activity Guide, valued at $139.95. Childwood will ship the prizes directly to the winners at no cost to the recipients.

ChildWood produces more than two dozen sets of magnets that depict story, nursery rhyme, animal life, and community helper characters. The popular manipulatives are constructed of birch wood, brightly colored with non-toxic paints and backed with powerful magnets. Each set is accompanied by suggestions for classroom activities and a reproducible mini-book. Teachers of young children favor the magnets because of their appeal, sturdiness, and versatility. They can be used for activities related to literacy, math, science, and social studies. From The Three Bears to Life Cycles, ChildWood magnets are used for direct instruction, learning centers, and for take home activities. Nationally known author, educator, lecturer Bev Bos says, "No school should be without ChildWood magnets!"

Bob Reap, co-director of the hugely popular Teachers.Net website initiated the contest. "Teachers are flocking to us in ever-increasing numbers. They support Teachers.Net with their presence, and we enjoy being able to present opportunities to put quality instructional aids in their hands. ChildWood magnets represent the best of what we can provide for young students in terms of creative, hands-on educational materials."

ChildWood is just one of many sponsors that have been attracted to the opportunity of showcasing their products to the more than 5,000 educators who use the site for professional support each day. Teachers.Net offers a large variety of resources including message boards ("chatboards"), e-mail discussion groups, reference tools, homepage builder, live professional development sessions, guest authors, and a chatroom. The homepage at http://teachers.net is a portal to dozens of resources for everyone interested in education. From student teachers to school administrators, to those who are looking for jobs or lesson plans, there is something for everyone at Teachers.Net.
