The time is about halfway through winter. Days are lengthening
about 2 minutes per day. About 30 to 40 minutes before sunrise
on a clear morning, look out of your south facing window and you
can see five planets stretched out from SE to SW in this order:
Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter. The moon is in its
last sliver over by Venus this morning (2/5/16). Mercury is very
close to the horizon now and actually I could not see it this
morning. The sky was too bright by the time it had risen. It's
still wintertime.
