I retired at 51 after 29 years of teaching and then moved 400
miles from my old district. I miss it daily. I have
considered going back to teaching. I really want to go back.
And then I remember that I am not a morning person. I hate
driving on the ice. I hate going outside when it is cold. I
hate dealing with administrators who have only had a few
years of teaching experience or none at all at the primary
level. So, I have not gone back.
I have been retired for two years and have not found my
"place" yet. I feel I am wasting away the days. I volunteer
at church and for the child welfare board. I have jointed the
local Extension Education club, but still haven't found my
new self.
You have nothing to feel guilty about. You have definitely
put in the years.
