I've been too busy since packing up and leaving my
classroom. Plus, the new principal told me that I had to
box up everything in my classroom as ESL is moving this
summer. Then I got ready for my "retiring teacher's" garage
sale. The sale was very successful. Three brand new hires
showed up and bought a lot of picture books, resource books
& manipulatives.
Since then I've been taking care of my 15 yr old cat. She
was diagnosed with advanced bone cancer (shoulder & front
leg) right before school ended. Giving pain pills and
spending time comforting and talking to her has been my
focus.
My fiance retired almost 2 yrs ago. He told me that at
first, every day seemed like Saturday to him, which, up
until now didn't phase me. Today we were running errands
today and I commented, "I didn't know orthodontists worked
on Saturdays." Seeing the cars there and thinking it was
Saturday, I finally understood what he had meant.
Yesterday my fiance called to let me know he got great
tickets/seats for a concert in November. I, of course,
asked which night of the week it will be. He told me to
relax, it's not on a "school night." Ha, there were a few
concerts I'd passed on (all out of town or out of state)
because they were on school nights. Guess it's going to
take me awhile to get used to being "free"!
