This month I noticed my Counseling Credential is about to
expire August 1st. It is good for five years. My other
credentials are issued for life as I did extra course work.
Now new teachers do not have this option. The state of
California wants the money honey!
Last time it was around $60 dollars. Before that around $55.
This time $102.50 just for keeping something I earned in
1986.
I feel this is too much fee and should be in the $50 dollar
range. It is all computerized renewal, no personal answered
the phone or mails a packet, or receives the packet. The
computer system does the work.
What is the cost in your State, and do you have the five
year renewal?
The reason I renewed is it took many hours of school work
and quite a few thousand dollars for the PPSC (counseling)
so why give it up. Just in case I want to go back. Not going
to happen but never say never.
Cal-Kid happy retiree
