We, too, have tough winters. (This has been a particularly
nasty December in the Midwest.) Still, we love our home and
the proximity to our grands. And my dear FIL is still
driving and independent at 96. So, we don't want an extended
time away from home.
So, our solution is 3 weeks in the South. We poke around.
Visit friends. See state parks. Go on a cruise if so
inclined. Later we might spend a few days with DD in NYC--we
can always cancel if the weather reports suggest that to be
wise. These are just the breaks we need.
And, we can choose to stay by the fireplace with book and
remote in hand if a day or week turn particularly evil.
No fret. No worries. Just enjoying life.
