He needs a teaching certificate. UAA, UAS and UAF have
masters programs for secondary certificates and that's about
it (also APU). High school history teachers aren't in short
supply so there's no reason that a non-certified person
would get hired.
sorry, but he'll have to take the time to learn to be a
teacher if that's what he wants to do. The students deserve
someone who not only knows the content but know how to teach
it.
