Re: should I move to Alabama?
Posted by Faye on 1/19/07

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised. There are
only a couple of small towns in Alabama I could not recommend for
you to move. The big cities (Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery,
Mobile)are pretty much like the cities you are from in this
regard. Most rural areas (especially in south Alabama) have a
large black population in which bi-racial children are the norm.
If you are planning to move to a small town in north Alabama, I
would suggest you check their web sites and note the
demographics. If there are very few African-Americans in the
town, I suggest you move elsewhere. Wish it weren't so, but alas
there are a few prejudiced folks left (of both races, actually),
and they seem to stick together in the same places.
Good luck, and I hope you move and join us!
    Faye
