Hello!

I am currently a resident of South Carolina, but I plan on
moving to Birmingham in several weeks. I would like, very
much, to be a substitute teacher for the Birmingham school
district, but I do not know the best way to apply. I have
found very little information online regarding substitute
teaching in Alabama.

I have never been a substitute teacher before and I do not
have a certificate, but I do have a Bachelors Degree and I
would like to earn a Masters of Science in Education
eventually. Must one apply through an agency or service?
May one apply online or is it necessary to contact someone
by phone or by mail? I found an application on the Alabama
Youth Services website, but I was not sure if it was for
the entire state or if one must apply to the region in
which they desire to work.

Please help me out if you know any information about this
topic!

Thank you, Galen
