Interesting idea. I started out teaching a few years ago at a high school
that paddled and I was opposed to it at first. I witnessed quite a few
paddlings though, and a alot of experienced teachers told me it works like
nothing else. So I got one of the VP's to give me an example paddling to see
how it was. It did hurt a lot, but was not brutal or anything, and I can see
why it is a good deterrent. I use it now in my classes as an option students
have and most take it. It really works!
