...In my 7th grade classroom, I a cardboard cabinet that looks like
four boxes over six boxes. It was a shoe holder/organizer that I
picked up at Walmart years ago. I have it sitting on the middle
of a table and have the area decorated with motivational phrases.
I put different writing prompts in each numbered box. The student
gets to pick their box and they write the prompt on their own paper
and then write about it. I try to change out the prompts
occasionally to keep it interesting. I guess it's like a work
center but might work for you with some tweeking at your level.
