Re: class size

Interesting...in my district it is up to the principal.
He/she decides where they want to spend their money and they
can opt for a new teacher to make class size smaller but
then needs to cut back in other areas. I teach 2nd and last
year we had 4 teacher in the team - this year we will have 5
so that our class size is smaller for our SEI classes
(approx 18) and a little bit larger for our English classes
(approx 22). We aim to keep our primary smaller and then
the upper grades seem to be larger - 27 or so. Again, with
pullouts for SpEd, speech, Title I, etc. the amount of kids
varies with the time of day.
We voted as a school last year to hire a technology teacher
full time. Because of this, we had to cut back on our
supply budget for each classroom. BUT, we voted and decided
as a school.
