Hey, everyone -- consider THIS: There are no NCATE-accredited
teacher preparation institutions in AZ (although I have my fingers
crossed that NAU gets through the process successfully),
Arizona is a Right To Work (for a low wage) state which translates
into low wages,
And -- not only does the state superintendent of Public Schools
never have to have been a teacher---- those sneaky-Petes at the capitol
just passed legislation that says that the Superintendent of the School
District does not have to be a certified teacher.
Hmmm --- sounds suspiciously like a couple of things --- that the ABCTE
slam-dunk certification thing is only a vote away (look it up -- it's
offensive) -- and that Certain Politicians think that traditional
public schools are a thing of the past and are hoping to further the
Charter School Movement ( Were their budgetary losses as significant as
ours? Nope)
So -- in essence -- I agree with the very first poster about this -- in
that these fools got voted in --- (and there are red/blue reasons
behind it because people here aren't necessarily "issues" voters --
they vote the Party Lines.
What we need are Viable Pro-Public Education Candidates for elected
offices and we need to get behind them with votes to win!
Every educational decision is a political decision. Always will be.
On a side note -- a former teacher is running for State Superintendent
of Public Schools -- check her out!!
