um, hello? sports starts make more than ANY teacher in ANY
state!!!!!
Starting salary hovers around $30,000---varies by district.
What is really bad is that it never gets very high. With a
masters degree and more and more hours above that, you may hit
$70,000, after about 20 years.
Be very careful-----our lawmakers recently passsed legislation
that severely affects teachers.
This sounds incredible, but it's true:
A school district can now lower a teacher's salary at any time
for no real reason.
Most teachers see a decrease in pay year after year after year,
even before this silly provision was passed.
Due to huge increases in medical insurance and increased
contributions to state retirement (both mandatory) teachers keep
getting pay cuts.
While I find the comparison to athletes' salary laughable, the
other poster was correct. Think very, very carefully before
moving here to teach. It is a bad, bad state for education!
