I feel your pain, so I say keep your chin up! I took that
test twice. I passed it the 2nd time. What I think helps,
regarding the poetry, is to maybe take a few lines at a time,
and off to the side write down what your initial
understanding is of what you're reading.
What I did both times (one poster a while back said she did
this technique) was I went to the essay first, read the
directions, read through the passage, wrote my initial
thoughts in the side margin, then began the multiple choice
questions, and then wrote the essay at the end. It somehow
gave me a little break, in a way, and helped me to have a
better perspective on what I was going to write.
The biggest thing I can say is once you have answered a
question, DON'T go back to it! :) Try the side notation every
few lines of a poem and see if you can understand a pattern
there.
You'll pass it! Hopefully you will update us with your
results when you get them.
It's a new round of testing, so go in to it with that mindset.
