Re: Uh... Nevermind
Posted by Ali on 1/24/07

I hate to say it, but I think I'm going to have to stay in
California. It turnd out that I'd be taking a $23,000 pay cut,
plus I'd lose an extra $5000-10000 (depending on the district)
because most districts don't pay for health benefits.

I wish I could, though. In California, are class sizes are nearing
    40. It's impossible to teach English and Math to NCLB mastery in
    these conditions.

Maybe we can run an annual ski trip to Steamboat or WInter Park or
    something. Sigh.

Why do teachers always end up trapped somewhere because of pay? I
know this is a rhetorical question, but I ask myself all the time
anyway. I work so darn hard and while taxpayers may pat us on the
back and thank us for the sacrifice (and snigger about the
basically free babysitting they're getting) they never acknowledge
teachers who work like dogs to help their kids with the
    commensurate pay.

I guess i'll try to become the CEO of my school next year. Oh
    wait...
