Actually, what you see on Simsbury's website is an invitation to be
an ERC sub. Granby and Avon have them too, in addition to East
Granby. They will pay more for a certified teacher, regardless of
endorsement area.
What's needed, in my opinion, is a more selective Praxis passing
score. What we have now is a joke, with any AP calc student having
the ability to pass the math Praxis 2 (we don't expect the teacher
to have more knowledge than the students, do we?)
I was even asked during an interview, at the SHARC job fair, if I
know calculus. No, I was only a math major, and now a graduate
student in math taking courses in PDE's and Boundary value
equations. What do I know about first year calc? Oh please(:
