It seems to not make sense that a veteran teacher would read the sexually explicit poem to his students. I smell BS on what the media is reporting. What really happened? What is Mr. Olio's version?

elsiev The fact is ... A student brought the poem to Mr. Olio, asking for a reading and a discussion of it. Clearly he decided to do just that. We don't know why, but seriously after reading the poem I can understand the outcry.

There's nothing hidden here. No "media BS" -- just a straightforward reporting of the facts.

Skeptical of the media Why would he do that? The poem is gross and extremely inappropriate. I would somewhat understand if a naive first year teacher in his or her early 20s did that.... But someone who has awards, accolades, and is a veteran? What would possess him to do that??? I was wondering if perhaps he was set up by someone wanting him out.
