Amen. When on earth will the public, admins, and
politicians realize that it's not the quality of the
programs/teachers that matters, it's the quality of the
students that matters in the end. If they want to excel,
they will. If they don't, they won't. End of story.
I also believe there is something to what the OP says.
Children are rasied to believe they are entiitled to the
sun and the moon. We're not teaching children to live
within their means, or that they need to earn things in
life. I see it at my school when the free/reduced lunch
kids wear brand new sneakers and whip out a cell phone,
yet they eat for free, get free clothes, go to the free
clinic in town, and go to a free after care program. If
everything's free, why work for anything? The lesson we
teach are don't worry, someone else will pay for your
lifestyle, and here we are in this mess.
