    Re: Florida Chatboard Question
    Posted by: Gatorgirl on 11/01/09

I am so sorry that those of you commenting here haven't been exposed to the
true Florida. I must say it has changed incredibly the 45 years I have
lived here. It USED to be a place where people where unquestionably polite
and where people were simply kind to one another, but wasn't it that way all
over? That's changed in FL as well as the rest of the US. My children say
Yes Sir and No Sir and so do my students. It's simply a matter of respect.
As I was reading the comments on this line of posts, I was amazed at the way
strangers were talking to one another...and these are some of the people
trusted to teach the next generation of Floridians? I'd wager a bet they
aren't "Native Floridians" because we weren't raised to disrespect they way
some posters have disrespected other posters, the profession, or the
students. Although the migration has slowed, more than 1000 people used to
move to Florida every day. It is a melting pot, and with that some of the
Southern Hospitality has also melted;-{ Keep looking, I'm sure you will
find a sincerely polite Native to brighten your day. I hope you have a
    wonderful week!
