well, once again my colleagues and i are worthless babysitters who can't teach their way out of a paper bag because we refuse to take up valuable teaching time every day espousing the value of marzano's goals and scales to our students. the evaluation plan says you must stop the flow of your lesson and preach marzano the prescribed number of times and topics (and thus lose the student's focus on the lesson)in order to achieve minimum competence. this is not good teaching. kids don't need to know marzano; they need to learn the lesson. admins from the top down recognize good teaching, but they don't have the guts to say this is a bad evaluation system. they need to get the media's interest - one idea - rate all of their teachers as zeroes or fives. somebody would investigate.

good teaching cannot be measured on paper. building self- coonfidence, instilling self-control, encouraging creativity, developing analytical thinking - even loaning lunch money - and all of the other imm...See More

Florida SB 736 was essentially our state's 2nd application for the Federal Race to the Top Grant (RTTT). There were 105 state Republicans that did us harm with the Merit Pay Law. Only ONE state Democrat injured us. A vote for any state Republican is a vote against teachers. Period.

Clark No Child Left Behind/Race to the Top - same thing. Parties look after themselves - not others. Obama has doubled down on all things Bush. Hopefully in Florida this will go away when they can't/won't fund merit pay.
