Hello teachers, I'm hoping one of you can clear up the following for me:

It states at http://www.fldoe.org/teaching/certification/general-cert-requirements that "The Florida Temporary Certificate is issued after the individual is employed in a Florida school and his/her fingerprints have been cleared."

But why would any school hire me if I don't already have a temp. certificate to teach? Seems like a catch-22. What am I missing?

Anonymous When you apply for the teaching certificate and submit all of your transcripts or proof of license in another state, the Florida Dept. of Ed. will send you a Statement of Status of Eligibility.
